did you really love them?
how do people move on so fast? how do hearts shift so easily, from one person to the next, like changing songs or seasons, barely missing a beat? i loved once, and it wrecked me. a year and a month, i carried the ghost of someone who forgot me in weeks. and here i am, empty-handed, unattached, wondering if love was supposed to be this hard, this rare, this sacred. because how do you say i love you when you’ve only known them for a day? how do those words fall so easy from lips that barely know the weight of them? is it love, or loneliness? infatuation? habit? or just fear of being without someone to say it to? maybe we’re not all the same, but still, i wonder... how?
