Desperate Regrets
Desperate regrets, they haunt my mind, Ghosts of choices I can’t unwind. They whisper at night, when the world is still, Of dreams forsaken, against my will. I see the paths I didn’t take, The words unsaid, the silent ache. The moments lost in a fleeting breath, Leaving behind the scent of death. I reach back to touch those days, To rewrite the past in different ways. But time is a thief that won’t relent, And regrets are the price of time misspent. Each memory, a knife that cuts so deep, A wound that wakes me from restless sleep. I wish for a chance to make it right, To turn back the clock, to hold on tight. But the past is a shadow, out of reach, A lesson that life is cruel to teach. I stand in the present, with empty hands, Bearing the weight of missed demands. Desperate regrets, they pull me down, A heavy cloak, a thorny crown. Yet in their grip, I search for peace, A way to let the torment cease. For in these regrets, there’s wisdom found, A path to rise from broken ground. To forgive myself, to let it go, And find the strength to heal and grow.
