Despair
In the shadowed depths of the mind's dark well, Despair, the predator, doth ever dwell, Its tendrils, like roots, entwine and coil, Within the heart, where anguish roils, In the bleak chamber of the soul's turmoil. In the boughs of the weeping willow's shade, Despair takes command, a venomous blade, Its petals, like blood-stained silk, unfurl, In the garden of sorrow, where nightmares swirl, And the echoes of silence scream and whirl. And the rose, once vibrant, now withered and sere, Its petals wilted, leaving thorns stained with tears, An epitome for hope's tragic demise, In the wasteland of broken dreams, it lies, A monument to Despair's cruel guise. Through the labyrinth of despair's domain, Where shadows dance in the flickering flame, Lost souls wander, their cries unheard, In the abyss of Despair, where the void's absurd, And the darkness consumes every whispered word. In the hourglass of eternity's embrace, Despair, like sand, falls with grace, Each grain a testament to pain's relentless flow, In the ocean of being, where sorrows woe, Weaves a lament for hearts laid low. Despair, oh how the mighty roams untaimed, In every heart that has been maimed.
