Your cheeks were stippled with freckles And plump with youth You used to go to the creek And throw pebbles You always said your eyes were just hazel But they were the most beautiful green We used to walk through Patches of basil While the trees glowed The light a beautiful sheen Your skin had a glow to it And you had 3 moles on your neck We went where we saw fit I never once even gave you a peck We played with sticks and ran around Coming home late To see my mother's frown My first crush and my first love You never even stepped foot into my room Now you fly as a dove And are only seen in the moon I still remember your face And have your pictures Something that I used to chase Like answers and scriptures I can still hear your voice and laugh Not a cadence missed Knowing the back of your hands Like a map I wonder if you died on impact If there was blood, if you were in pain If your body was intact Your mother's disdain
