demons who lie
I thought I could be enough, that perhaps I could have the right stuff, that even I could be a diamond in the rough, but all I can do is break, cry and shake, heave and huff, because of the fear of love lost, and in doing so I will pay the cost, pushing away that I try to hold, my hands fumble in the cold, that fills my bones, leaking into the heart, that you made a hearth and your part, and I burn, for you, I will burn to ash, no matter how my darkness and light clash, I will hold on until I have no hands to grasp, until my last gasp, if I didn't I would float away into the abyss, mourned only by those who notice the amiss, because I vanished from the minds of masses, sealed inside of one of a million glasses, preserved as an example of what not to be, a mess for the cruel to mock, the kind to pity, because I'm too afraid to try and defy, all of the demons in my mind who lie.
