Delusional Me
There she lay, asleep like a babe, so cute in that place— a place I longed to lie. Then she whispered, “Will you sleep, or dream away?” Clueless, I moved so strange, grasped a blanket, and drifted into dreaming. Then I dreamt of the future— was it bright, or was it dull? She appeared within my dream to wipe away my fears, sealing them with promises of always being there. With a smile that could melt stones, I wished not to let her go. Stay with me in this moment, be my sunshine— just for a while. Then I pulled her into a hug— oh— so soft, so unreal. A little tighter… and I slipped back to reality. Oops—what a beautiful, shamefaced truth: I was only dreaming, and I’m still single. © Olukorede Jumoke #CreativeWriting #Poetry
