December 5th memoir
2 years ago, to the date, I attempted suicide for the 3rd time. At 9:17 p.m., December 5th, I slit my wrists, The minute after the blade had dragged Across my veins, An overwhelming sense of dread filled my Stomach. I had never been so nervous of the future, And so scared of the present. I watched the blood trickle down my arms, And onto my green and pink stripped Sheets, A smell of iron filled my nose, And for the first time, I truly thought I was Going to die, And for the very last time, I truly thought I was a sinner. Lucy Dacus's song, Night Shift, was on Repeat, Until my mother walked in telling me to Lower it. I don't remember much of it after that, But I woke with scars and bandages. I think how much easier it would've been If she never walked in. None the less, I'm grateful she did.
