Debris
This is how I'm left— Not even the privacy Of wooden caskets Even the neighbor’s pet fish Was given his own shoebox… Dirt spills from my maw I had spent my last moments Mouthing at the ground Mouthing at the riverbank Water splashing up on me Nose deep in the muck. Could you not have been bothered To drag me away? Or better, leave me to float This dead weight leaves me tethered My heart does not beat So why is it still breaking? Take this aching thing The worst part is beginning The most unforgiving End.
