Death of a Companionship
She messaged me at nine My sorrows heap at that time. I sat as she got the words down And I couldn't help but frown. For reasons I can't understand But was it always so damned? She said we must part That emptied my heart. We are told all love must pass But why so fast? I am one of few who believe There must be more to love than those conceive. And now I fight for the days For when I may escape this maze. And there again… I remember as the words stopped My sorrows came to flop. And then I remembered the time She messaged me at nine.
