Dead and gone away
I told the enemy I want out of this game I gave my soul to play, and he said there’s no way out for me. But the Lord paid a heavy price for my freedom, for my heart was broken to save my soul. I cannot go back. The chains I wore have lost their sound, the weight I carried is in the ground. Grace came running when I turned away, mercy met me where I lay. I cannot go back. Now I walk where light breaks through, my scars remind me what love can do. What once enslaved me lost its hold, I’m living proof of a story told. I cannot go back. Sometimes I still hear the echo of shame, but it no longer knows my name. I’m not who I was, I’ve been made new For He broke me down to build me true. I cannot go back. So when the darkness calls my name, I smile for I'm no longer the same. So no regrets, I'm blessed to say, the old Adam is dead and gone away.
