Dawning
The long, dark night is almost done. I greet the dawn and life alone. You have found your love is gone, And I wait now to face the sun. As the day begins to break, I think of you but, no mistake, Nothing would I give nor take From what we had or this heartache. So, as this new day dawns on me, Although there is no longer "we," I'm thankful that we came to be, And now, in peace, your heart is free.
