Dark Illusion
locked away in the dark, keeping away from the sun. the light hurts It has for years When did I become a recluse? Or did I just give up trying to fit into societal norms? I'm not designed to fit into a box the wyld calls my name " I'm here " I mumble as the birds sing outside my window They can't know me, though, unless I break these walls My pets comfort me as I live alone in the dark They dislike the outside world It is too loud, too busy too chaotic, too false the likes of we are too soft-skinned for harsh society I cannot justify walking out the door when everything is designed against us Maybe staying in isn't so bad? Maybe this dark room is my sanctuary? Alone to sort my thoughts without outside intrusion Outside illusion? they claim the busy city is better but it's all noise to drown out What really matters the chaos, the lies, the pavement! Structure is not meant for the likes of you and I We are the free spirits meant to wonder and roam instead we are caught up in someone else's light For now my darkness is my freedom until I can shine on my own
