Creeping Shadow
In the corner of my eye, it first appeared, A flicker of black, something to be feared. Just a shadow, a trick of the light, But then it moved, a creature of night. Its eyes were pits, voids of despair, A maw of teeth in a twisted snare. Closer it crept, with each breath I took, Slithering near like a worm on a hook.No shape or form, just darkness and dread, A silent scream in the back of my head. Its tendrils reached, brushing my skin, Cold as death, seeping in.I close my eyes, pray it’s not real, But its presence deepens, a suffocating seal. A whispering hiss, a breath so foul, As it slithers closer, on the prowl. My pulse quickens, I feel it near, Its breath on my neck, icy and sheer. I dare not turn, dare not see, This demon born of shadows and me.But I feel its weight, its pressing form, A harbinger of an endless storm. Its claws sink deep, dragging me down, Into a darkness where I’ll drown.I open my eyes, but it’s too late, It’s here now, sealing my fate. A grotesque visage, twisted and dire, A demon of nightmare, birthed from fire.It grins with teeth that never end, A shadowed figure, my final friend. It pulls me close, our fates entwined, A morbid bond, my soul confined. Now it’s with me, forever near, bye
