couldn’t forgive...
I couldn’t forgive him. Not because I was full of hate, but because he never gave me a reason to believe he was truly sorry. Forgiveness isn’t just about saying “it’s okay” and pretending the hurt never happened. It’s about seeing real change, genuine remorse, and consistent effort to rebuild what was broken. But he didn’t do that. He wanted quick forgiveness, like it was something I owed him, not something he had to earn. He acted like a few words could erase all the nights I cried, all the doubts he planted in my heart, and all the trust he shattered without thinking twice. He didn’t understand that healing doesn’t come from silence, lies, or false promises. It comes from truth, accountability, and time. And he gave me none of that. So no, I couldn’t forgive him, not because I’m cold or bitter, but because I learned to value myself too much to settle for half-hearted apologies. I realized that sometimes, choosing not to forgive is choosing to finally put yourself first.
