Confronting Shadows
In the depths of pain, I struggle to breathe, Deserving, I say, of what life may bequeath. Control in my hands, a burden to bear, Running and hiding, a lifetime of wear. Dealt a bad hand, a tale of shame, In the shadows, I played a silent game. A mind, dark as the past it conceals, In places where angels won't reveal. Witnessed things the mind can't grasp, Reasons unfolding in a painful gasp. To shield you, my purpose unfolds, For no one shielded me in life's thresholds. Alone I've been, a companionless plea, Scared of losing, scared to be free. In solitude, demons of time unfurl, Choking, causing pain, a silent swirl. A journey where fears must confide, No more hiding, my demons, must abide.
