Complacency
A choice we embrace, Wittingly or blind. The liberty to chart our course, Whether sound or unhinged. Here I drift, On cerulean swells. My last vigil, Open for all to tell. Before a silent heaven, Mocking praise to the unseen. My right limb is lost, Half of its twin now keen. We dismissed the shadow's reach, Lulled by ease's gentle hum. Now, by our own hand, The adversary has overcome. What toll did my ease exact? How many loved ones fell victim to this act? My spouse, my children, will our paths converge? In this state, I'd rather not emerge. This ending, I submerge.
