Closet
Growing up was so odd All these boys around me, these supposed fish in the sea, I would only give them a nod. Talking with friends "this boy is cute.. and this one too!" but they hadn't a clue, I didn't fall into those same trends. No, I stayed back and hid away. The closest became my safe place. I was too scared to show my face, and so, for the acceptance, I would pray. I feared what has been shown to me; the hatred that runs I'm some veins. Those brutal comments leaving a stain, I wanted them to leave me be. As time went on, the hiding hurt. It made me feel isolated and alone. Sitting in my closet, feeling unknown, I decided I had no need to convert. I opened the doors and took a step out, I was terrified of what was to come. I feared they would think I am dumb. Though I kept going and shook the doubt. Some friends left, along with family Still, I had those that stayed. Those friends I would never trade. They helped me accept the others flee. Love is love through and through. I no longer care if others accept it. I am no longer ashamed to admit. I like girls; now that is the truth.
