Climate Change

July 8, 2024 June was really hot and dry July is torrid too But a lot of people testify That these events are nothing new. They say even hotter weather's coming And there's just nothing we can do. There are other folks who like to say The heat is due to climate change And if we don't change our destructive ways Right now, our ice caps will rearrange The countenance of the planet And life here will become too strange. For me, I say, who knows? Are these changes normal weather patterns of this earth, Or is it what we humans do that counts? I think we'll learn more as the climate problems grow And our hot days are even hotter as they mount. So, we then might say it's climate change, for what it's worth. And yet, some say, we will be too far gone To do anything about it Or some genius will come up with something new That will solve all our problems or prolong Survival long enough that our science can get us through. But I expect we'll find a way to screw it up somehow; don't doubt it.
