City Folk
The city never sleeps, All that it takes, it keeps. A city folk at heart, It makes me fall apart. Tried to escape this town, On every step, I drown. Someday, I’ll find the lights That every poet writes. How quiet and how tame, I’m searching for a flame. I’ve survived for the smoke, It will fix what they broke. Find me in the Christmas lights, Fix me with the restless nights. Find me in the Angels’ home. Fix me with the city’s gloam. Find me reaching for the Moon, Fix me with the bustling noon. Been eternally dark Until I found the spark. The light that it awoke Forever city folk.
