Childish Thoughts
I used to think grown-ups had it made, Big shoes, big rules, bills always paid. Thought I'd trade my toys for a suit and tie, Now I trade my sleep for reasons why. Back then, a scrape was the end of the day, Now heartbreak lingers and won’t go away. Monsters hid under my bed at night, Now they live inside, out of plain sight. I wanted to grow up, rush to the prize, Now I miss crayons and untamed skies. Naps I hated, now I crave, Freedom I had, now I save. I believed love was forever, just like the shows, But real love leaves scars nobody knows. I thought I’d be a hero, save the world in a cape, But now I just hope I can help someone escape. Still, somewhere inside this weathered skin, A kid draws dreams with a crooked grin. Still chasing stars, still asking why— Still learning how to live before I die. So when the weight feels like too much to hold, I let my childish thoughts unfold: Jump in puddles, sing off-key, And dream like the world's still wild and free.
