Childhood Everyone eagerly returns to those memories, But this time, I’ll skip that journey. This isn’t how it was supposed to be— At least, not how I wanted it. It’ll take just a few bitter minutes. Every person since my childhood Has worn such a beautiful mask, An invisible mask adorning every face. I liked them, so I got one for myself. They said a song is more than melody and words, Just like a poem. Written words hurt more than physical pain, But I no longer want to feel, hear, or see any of them. No heart or eyes are needed— Just a sliver of human emotion. Who shouted they’d take everything from me? A drunken rage, yet they were right. Unaware of their words or actions, They still did nearly everything they said. And yet, I’d rather live with them in the future Than with that other person. How strange—it’s forgotten, But it still happened. One of the more curious cases. Perhaps someday they’ll keep their current promises. I wish everyone would take off those damn masks and be themselves. I want the world to be safe. I want this small life to be better. I want today’s children to have wonderful childhoods.
