chasing the day
Something cool is waiting just outside, I lean on my window, watch clouds slide, The sky’s wide open, nothing to hide. A bird whistles from the old mango tree, Its tune feels like it’s just for me, I hum along, feeling easy and free. I slip on my sandals, step out slow, No rush, just letting the morning glow, Taking my time, nowhere to go. A butterfly floats by, lazy and bright, It lands for a second, then takes flight, I grin and watch it fade from sight. Down by the river, I toss a stone, Ripples spread out, I’m all alone, But it’s a good kind of alone, in my own zone. The breeze messes up my hair, I laugh, don’t even care, Feels good just breathing this fresh air. I spot a path through the tall green grass, Looks a bit wild, but I let it pass, Maybe I’ll try it later, just for a laugh. Sun’s getting low, painting the sky pink, I sit on a rock and stop to think, Letting my thoughts drift, not in a blink. Tomorrow’s got more chill in store, I’ll wake up and open that door, For now, I’m happy-couldn’t ask for more
