Chameleon Believers
We masquerade as saints, in sanctuaries we reside, While our hearts are shrouded, in hypocrisy we hide. We're weeds among seeds, chameleons of deceit, Donning plastic smiles, our true selves we conceal, in vain retreat. We feign kindness, charity, and love's sweet guise, While inwardly, we're ravenous wolves, with hearts of stone, we disguise. The Omniscient One, observes our every move, Unmasking the charade, He sees the truth we can't remove. We attend sacred halls, with pious faces worn, Yet our hearts, a far cry, from the love that's born. Do we truly mean it, when we claim Him as our own? Or are we mere pretenders, with tongues that speak in vain, alone? The Word warns of deceivers, who'll cry "Lord, Lord" in vain, Only to be rejected, with a heart that's not His strain. We're Pharisees reborn, with outward shows of zeal, While inwardly, we're corrupt, with wickedness we conceal. Oh, the blasphemy of our duplicity, the shame, Our help comes from complaining, our love a shallow game. Our smiles are forced, our hearts are far from true, A facade we wear, a masquerade, through and through. But He'll come like a refiner, to purge and make us new, To separate the wheat from chaff, the seeds from weeds.
