Chair of Memories
Long Shallow breaths help through the pain Choking back tears, as I hold the picture frame Memories dance through the room, Still smelling your favorite perfume As a child, we would gather around for Flashlight story Tone and expressions kept us interested, Applause for the end, always mandatory Tradition of Friday nights, eating out then Broke out the competitive games of cards Telling what kind of game by the sigh as They discard Teaching me how to dance, never giving up Even when stepping on your toes sitting down in your chair after a long day, Relaxing causes your eyes to slowly close Sitting in your lap As we share continuous laughs Giggles still echoing through the walls, Fun never ended, for our family of oddballs Smiling while hugging the picture frame Realizing, after losing you nothing will be the Same Packing up all of your things, Vultures fight over who takes your belongings materialistic items that Hold no sentamental value Sitting across where you used to sit, grateful To even know you Staring at the mustard yellow chair That now, only holds air Long Shallow breaths help through the pain Choking back tears, as I hold the picture frame
