Cat
You came to the pet shop looking for a dog. You looked through them all; they didn't really care. They're beautiful with everything that you love For some reason though, they didn't love you Rejected and disappointed, your mind was open. "There are more critters than dogs" I'm sure I could learn to love something else. Just not quite as much. You see a cat as you walk by. Somehow, I catch your eye. You picked me up. You held me close. I knew from the moment we touched- that you were my home. You don't usually like cats, but maybe this one could be good. So, you take me home and you give me some food. We cuddle, we play, but at the end of the day, I'm still a cat. You realize your mistake. Instead of sending me back, you treat me bad. You don't feed me. You throw me outside to catch the mice and say that that is all I deserve to eat. Not that I've done anything wrong Because I am a cat, not a dog. It takes a winter or two before I choose to leave. I know you say that it's because I'm antsy. I could never stay in one place for long. In reality, this is what you want. It's not on your conscience if I'm gone. All this to replace me Simply because I'm not a dog.
