Carving a heart
Carving little trinkets slowly carving a rough shape gradually creating something of desire Till the grain splits hand bloodied desire turns to dismay dismay to forbearance begin again reminiscent of the failure carving gradually and gently the shape ever-changing tired hands straining yet enduring shaving covered boots dust littered pant legs calluses forming knowledge building confidence growing sat with wood in hand trinket complete the perfect heart in hand quite ironic i think forbearance turns to regret the possibility of perfection lost like hope stranded in the desert blood stained piece just scrap wood once again the thirst of the cloth quenched turning two imperfections to three a week from now a scar will have formed a lesson will have been learnt a scarred and broken heart will remain
