Carry Me Now
Encircle me. My infant hand rests on your shoulder. Its eyes peeled back, Its breath frozen in time, Its diaper cold with soiled water. Let the fumes leave my resting cage— The dissipation of hurt, Released by the miniature throbbing heart. Embrace me. Sink your new hands on my tender skin. Let me rest my mouth on the strength of your soul. Let me suckle out the poison that leaves you stray. My heart sinks for you, And my tears give moisture to your parched season. Release me. Show me your world of color. Bathe me in the healing water. Give me heat that emanates through the eternal blanket. Center me in the life force that knows no end. Sanctify me. Let me ride the short-legged beast. Let me drink from the stolen chalice. Let me smell of the herbaceous earth. And let me walk with a bold heart That sits in the crown of your holy father. Carry me now. Carry me… Carry me… I’m with you.
