campfire
I like you in the unhealthy way: the snap of woodbark the smoke-dust that cascades upwards into the deep night sky [ as if I could caress it mold it into creation ] campfire spark and star freckles on the horizon. [ like a coming-of-age film, a heroine's evolution ] hypnotic, in a way, the pull of heat to flesh. the beauty of power against skin. but regardless. I'd rather the firelight burn my retinas inside out than face the cold lingering at the edge of the forest.
