Caged
In no world should another being be so stung by the one that gave them life. in no world should any kid be running for freedom so young, so desperate to get as far away as it can from its roots. Grasping at anyone or anything; clawing so desperately, so harshly. kids who aren't spoonfed care and support learn to lick it off a blade. I am a sheep, she is the wolf hunting me. I am a raven, she is my cage. the soft rustles and noises when the wind hits it taunting me, constant reminders of my sheltered life. only ever opening oh so slightly to being in the nutrients I reject so coldly. I wish to tear through the cage, but only make small scratches and slight dents. My entire being thrown into it, all my emotion, soul, body, just to do such little damage. and so I come to the conclusion I'll never be able to fly away, even if I could I'd have a broken wing by then. no point. and so I choose to claw out my eyes so brutally, claw all my feathers off, unable to watch myself fall apart. the cage is now filled with no life, yet the sorrow and deep tension near it is lifted compared to when it once had life it in. I am now a dove. a beautiful, peaceful, dove.
