Cadaverous Echo
I wake to a world wrapped in twilight’s shroud, A shadow of life where whispers are loud. Skin tight to the bone, cold as the grave, An empty vessel that nothing can save.Eyes that once sparkled now dull and deceased, A smile forgotten, long since released. I shuffle through days, a ghost in the light, Neither dead nor alive, lost in the night.Breath in my lungs, yet hollow it feels, Heart beats on, but nothing it heals. I am but a corpse, animated and grim, A puppet to time, on the edge of the dim.Flesh may persist, but the soul is unbound, Buried beneath where no warmth is found. A living cadaver, a husk in disguise, The light that I was now slowly dies.So I walk on, through dusk and through dawn, A dead man breathing, endlessly drawn. To a rest that won’t come, to a peace I can’t find, A corpse that still wanders, leaving the living behind.
