Butterfly
A butterfly taught me to fly one day. We fluttered our way to the moon. I never thought I'd see the sky that way, Anxious, excited, and blue. And with the colors of its wings, It helped me understand, The lyrics that my heart would sing, As I held it in my hand. A butterfly taught me to fly one day, But that was long ago. So now, here on the Earth, I lay, Lost on where to go. And when I think of taking flight, I cannot help but cry, 'Cause flying never feels quite right, Without my butterfly. A butterfly taught me to fly one day, And that, I won't forget. And though I miss it everyday, My heart knows no regret. And when a bird asks me to fly, I know this to be true: I'll show the colors of my wings, Just like it taught me to.
