Burning Bodies - A Villanelle
With the flicker of a flower, our world bursts ablaze. Hot-headed and fiery, I've forgotten your name, or were you just a drunken daze? Defeated and vulnerable, I wander in a line in your predatory gaze Stuck in your oily arms; we light a flame. With the flicker of a flower, our world bursts ablaze. I paint you as a faultless flower where everything blooms in rays, free of oily flaw on your portrait's frame. or were you a drunken daze? Oil paint; fire flies; illusion betrays. You lubricate my flesh in a crawling layer of unraveling shame. With the flicker of a flower, our world bursts ablaze. Your flaring flower in bitter blabber combusts to a craze, as you contort to a glacier-like stagger: erratic, untamed. or were you just a drunken daze? We were destined to burn together to a bloody haze, but we melt away. Oil and water down the drain. With the flicker of a flower, our world bursts ablaze, or were you a drunken daze.
