Buried word
I built a garden in my chest where secret flowers grew watered with hope I never spoke and sunlight I never knew Each petal held a word unsaid each stem a silent prayer I thought if I just waited long my love would find me there But seasons turned and petals fell the garden started fading when I heard the news today my careful walls came crashing He stood before another's eyes and spoke the vows I dreamed while my unspoken garden died in silent, buried streams Now empty soil where flowers grew just echoes of what might have been if I had found the courage then to let my truth begin But some loves live in quiet spaces some gardens never see the sun and some hearts break in silent places when the waiting's done The hope I buried deep inside has vanished with his name leaving just this hollow space where nothing grows the same Just memories of what I felt and words I'll never say as he begins his life with her and mine just fades away
