Breaking Point (Commitment)
Addition, Subtraction. A relationship with no walls, The fallacy that lives in infamy. An inevitability that lies dormant, Too soon does it show its ugly malediction. There are never any perfect families, Only dastardly secrets that bring hell to happiness. On socials, a pleasant smile plasters on everyone's thread, An ominous aura always portraying for the keen eye. The turkey being softly downed by a fine wine, Laughs are gathered in a warming fare. Nothing can prepare the picture perfect family, Fallen beneath the pedestal bestowed by the onlookers. No walls in the relationship, I laugh at the irony of one's heart, Wrapped in a cage of protection. Where did it go wrong? Shattering the bonds that are multiple years long, Oh how it can be ripped to shreds in a defensive heart's beat. Yelling, destroying honor, casting foolish names, Being ignorant of the feelings thought infallible. It is gone, Their vows mean nothing, In the end. © Matthew Briar
