Braided in My Blood
I thought travelling to the mountains would make your thoughts disappear. That maybe, just maybe, the wind would carry them off, scatter them like ash into valleys that never knew our names. But you— you prove me wrong again. Because even here, where the earth kisses the sky, where silence wraps around me like mist— you speak louder than ever. Whenever, wherever, whatever I do— you are the only constant. You…braided in my blood. Threaded through my veins like a secret I never asked to keep. You travel inside me, unseen, unchosen, unchanging. I still have your bracelet. the one you left. The one I swore I’d return— but couldn’t. It clings to my wrist like your ghost. Warm sometimes. Heavy always. And here I am, in the middle of nowhere, watching mountains roll like waves beneath the sky. Peaceful. Still. Majestic. But no scenery, no silence, no snow-capped serenity can take me away from the ghost of you. You’re here— in the trees, in the clouds, in the cracks of my heart that never quite healed right. I came here to lose you. But found instead, you never left.
