BOYS WILL BE BOYS
In this era of prejudice, girls face the glare, While boys are excused, girls can't just be fair. How is it just and right, the double standard we bear? An eighteen-year-old violated, they say boys will be boys, Blaming her outfit, as if she had a choice. But what was the fault of that eight-month-old voice? Boys will be boys, they say with a scoll, Free to dress as they please, while girls face scoffs. Too modest or too bold, always deemed wrong. Boys will be boys, but who decides their beauty? Girls are molded from birth, striking a duty. Slim and curvy, flat belly, big hips. But boys are immune to those body image slips. Boys will be boys, at work they earn more, While girls put in effort, their worth still ignored. Yet boys don't feel the pain of periods or childbirth. Nor the weight of body shaming that stains their self-worth. Boys will be boys, but don't ask for a thing, While girls must offer favors to achieve something. Not to hate on boys, but the everyone to know.
