Boyfriend
"How's your boyfriend?" Boyfriend? "I don't have one of those." How could I? How could I move on from you? The hope of what could be still plays on repeat in my head. Instead of driving yourself home, maybe this time you'll walk me home and we would have that long talk about life and us like we used to. Instead of just leaving, maybe there is be an long embraced hug followed by an I love you. Maybe the stars will finally align and you'd be mine. I would be yours. Or back to whatever we used to be. Where close friends ask if we are together. A question that not even we knew. Where you cared about me just as much as I still care about you. No thought left unsaid, except for what we were that is. So no, I don't have a boyfriend. That place is reserved for the what if.
