Big Problems
When I was little, my mom would say "Only someone with big problems would purposefully cut their skin." I nodded along But I don't think she was right. I don't have any big problems. I get straight As Maybe some Cs on a bad day I have lots of friends I love them, even if they overshadow me sometimes I'm popular at school Even if it's only from gossip I'm Mama's perfect little girl And it's normal for perfect little girls to sit on the toilet Blade in hand Staring at the lines across her wrist It's normal for perfect little girls to hide the blade Hiding it in her little pink jewelry box Where no one will see It's normal for perfect little girls to draw on her scars with pen And wear long sleeves And put makeup over the reminders So no one has to see her hurt It's normal for perfect little girls to say "It was just my cat" "I fell" "I accidentally nicked myself shaving" So no one knows the truth It's normal for perfect girls to do all these things. I'm normal. I don't have any big problems.
