Betrayal of sunlight
I gave you my mornings, like sunlight breaking through restless nights, my love poured into you as rivers surrender to the sea, endless, without asking anything back. You were the garden I watered, every flower bloomed with my care, but now you’ve left, leaving me to wander among the withered stems, hands still bleeding from holding onto thorns. You forgot me the way winter forgets the warmth of spring, as if my existence was nothing but a shadow fading when the sun shifts. Yet I still look for you in every sunset that burns the sky. I miss you in the silence between heartbeats, in the lonely echo of my footsteps, while you laugh in someone else’s arms, your world full of light, and mine, only the ashes of dawn. I gave you everything, and you gave me an ending. Still, even broken, I whisper your name to the wind, hoping one day it reaches you, though I know— you no longer remember mine.
