Bereft
Confused, adrift in endless fight, A hollow wraith, devoid of flight. No beacon calls, no solace near, Just noises shaped by doubt and fear. The weight of sorrow bends my spine, Each breath a gasp, no air divine. Hope unspools like fraying thread, A specter walks where joy has fled. The winds wail grief in cruel refrain, Cold fingers trace my soul with pain. No haven waits, no arms to embrace, Only shadows know true my face. Regret, a cage with iron bars, Dreams are ashes, lost to stars. The past, a ghost that will not die, A voice that screams yet won’t reply. Stripped of warmth, of love, of grace, A wanderer in empty space. No path, no dawn, no guiding shore, Just silence whispering: "It's Death once more."
