Behind The Facade
Beneath the veneer of smiles and friendly guise, Lies a web of deceit, a masked disguise. They wear a plastic grin, a false pretense, To lure you in, to manipulate, to make a pretense. Their words and actions diverge, a duplicitous play, A wolf in sheep's clothing, with intentions far astray. Not all that glitters shines with genuine gold, For some, your value lies in what you can hold. They lavish affection when it's beneficial to their cause, But discard you like refuse, when you're no longer of use. Snakes in the grass, they slither, sly and cold, Using you for their gain, with hearts of stone, untold. Selfishness and greed, their guiding lights, No empathy, no compassion, in their calculating sight. When you're down, they revel in your pain, When you're hopeless, they mock, their disdain. Yet, when need arises, they recall your name, Frenemies, with smiles that hide their game. They feign friendship, with faces so bright, But behind your back, they speak with spite.
