Behind Smiles
Behind Smile I smile, but hurt inside, Pain that's hidden, tears I've cried. My heart is heavy, my soul is worn, A mask of joy, to hide the scorn. The world sees happiness, but not my strife, A secret life, of inner life. I hide my tears, and painful sighs, And suffer alone, with closed eyes. My smile conceals, the agony within, A burden carried, since twelve within Each laugh a lie, each grin a test, To hide the pain, and find some rest. But in the night, when darkness falls, My tears flow free, and my heart calls. For someone to see, beyond my disguise, And heal the wounds, that bring me to my knees. -Aria lune
