Before the mind knew
He came into my life when I was not looking for love, not searching the earth, not asking above. My heart lay quiet, cautious and broken, still healing, still afraid to be open. He came not like a storm, loud or wild, but like familiarity, gentle and mild. As if my soul recognized something true, long before my mind ever knew. I never planned to fall like this, never imagined a moment like this. I was still shattered, still scarred, still haunted by love I thought I had buried. No matter how hard I resisted, my heart kept leaning his way. I told myself to be careful, but without warning, without control, I fell, and chose to stay. Somewhere along the way, the fears softened. The noise grew quiet. And before I knew it, he felt like home.
