Before the Light Finds Me
I stayed up again—no sleep, no peace, Just bleeding verses that never cease. Each word I write is torn from bone, A quiet scream when I’m alone. You used to be my lullaby, Now silence swells where you’d lie. I trace the ghosts on empty sheets, The cold where once our bodies meet. I miss you like the dying miss breath, Like autumn trees miss life in death. Each hour I beg for your return, But stars just fade, and candles burn. The sky begins to bruise with gray— Another merciless, hollow day. I loathe the dawn, I curse the light, It drags me further from the night. Too tired to move, too numb to feel, Without you here, nothing is real. So I sit still, where shadows creep, And ache for dreams I cannot keep.
