Before the Inevitable
Before the Inevitable by Jack A.S. Dunce The current rolls towards the sea I feel its pull on every part From toe to soul to some degree, As though it's being ripped apart. I clenched my teeth and waded more, Each limb, heavy as solid lead; Each stroke toward the nearest shore, But things kept on drifting ahead. The crashing roar of pounding waves Drowned out my resolve's battle cry While coldness leeched the warmth I craved, And everything stalled with a sigh. How this ends, the Tides guarantee. Although my efforts were feeble, The thought nonetheless consoles me: I fought The Inevitable. --🌼-- ©️pgmr 04/01/2026
