Before the Flight
Leaves fly about like a maze yet to navigate, like a map yet to be understood. The weather is still too hot, trees still too green, to fly south. And still, a pack is to be found, feathers plucked, bellies fattened. A route is to be picked, winds to be braced, breaks to be experienced. And finally, winter is to be survived, only to prepare for the eventual return.
