Because Love Didn't Leave
She thought his silence meant goodbye, Short replies, distant nights. So she gathered courage made of fear And spoke words sharper than she meant. “I think we’re done,” her message said, Though her heart begged her to stay. She broke them both with one mistake, Assuming love had walked away. He read her words with shaking hands, His world suddenly unclear. She cried alone, hurt by her voice, Drowning in regret and fear. Days felt empty, breaths felt wrong, Life without him had no tune. She learned too late that love can hide Behind the quiet of the moon. So she went back with fragile pride, An apology soaked could truly leave, No matter how they tried. So he pulled her close and said, “Love doesn’t fade that easily.” Two wounded souls, still choosing us, Bound by what they couldn’t flee.
