Battles With Anxiety
The space is silent but my heart is tumultuous. Thoughts rush by aimlessly, each one weighing more than it ought to. My hands tremble even though there's no danger, and I prepare for something that never comes. I attempt to inhale but the air feels taken, narrow, as if a tunnel is constricting. No one notices— the battle behind calm eyes. Yet I remain seated, continue to breathe, persevere. And that in itself is a form of bravery. ©️ James Michael 2025
