Ballade of the Sea
Ballade of the Sea by Jack A.S. Dunce It's been immeasurable eons since I stirred from eternal slumber. Who dares wake an immortal icon? Who is this foolish agitator? Mere mortal men are my aggressors. Have they not learned a bit from their mistake? Repeating them as did their ancestors. For the sake of the rest, this world again I'll take. These mortals wield this so-called science. They have grown in enormous numbers. They seem to ravage all known regions. But knowlege has not made them humbler. They brought dear Gaia to her knees with heartache. Their wake, a tale of endless plunder. For the sake of the rest, this world again I'll take. All that potential wasted on mere ruffians. Disturbing my depths is a blunder. Extending their realm but left mine with lesions. They gouge parts of me like rash treasure hunters. Soon enough they'll be six feet under; these holes they dig will be the graves they make when I rend their whole world asunder. For the sake of the rest, this world again I'll take. Envoi: This one Earth you owe to those who are younger. When will you realize what's at stake? Man, do I need again to be Death's monger? For the sake of the rest, this world again I'll take. ©️pgmr09/15/2024
