Ballad of the Archer and Fox
Once upon a broken heart Two souls were bound to be apar. In every life, they'd play a role A constant ache within the soul You are the language I'm no longer fluent in but still know how to read A tale of longing and desperate need In different lives with different names The outcome always felt the same As warriors bold or artists grand They'd reach but never truly understand Why fate would tease with such cruel art And keep them always worlds apart Ballads never have happy endings it seems Only broken hopes and shattered dreams Through shifting sands of time they'd roam Forever searching for a home. A love so strong a bond so deep Yet still a promise they couldn't keep Once upon a broken heart We played a tragic destined part An archer bold, with eyes of green A vixen sly a forest queen He chased me through the moonlit glade A love like ours was meant to fade Ballad never have happy endings Only bittersweet heart-rendings He with a new life and goals in tow Me with a path I had to go He was the archer I the fox you see A love like ours could never be Though lifetimes pass and fates may turn For a love like ours our souls still yearn
